Boat jobs and more boat jobs.
My sister Anice has stayed on with us and has been a huge help in all things cleaning and organizing, not to mention running the kids so they get a bit of exercise and some much-needed attention.
We've been here at Cape Canaveral Yacht Club for exactly 15 days now. There isn't much you can walk to from here, so we felt a bit trapped.
We ended up renting a car for a couple of days to do some provisioning. We hit up West Marine, a pharmacy, grocery stores and a Walmart (super sensory overload much!).
We gifted ourselves with some early Christmas presents from West Marine: an SUP, a tandem kayak and a bunch of fishing gear we have yet to learn to use.
It doesn't really feel like the holiday season here with temperatures in the mid to high 20s. We have decorated our boat somewhat and the kids have made Christmas crafts.
Besides boat jobs, we tried to mix in some fun and went swimming at the local pool one afternoon.
Also, since we had become Kennedy Space Center annual pass holders, we decided to go back one more time and catch another astronaut talk and see some of the things we missed the first two visits. That place is so awesome, I wish we could go every week!
But the Bahamas is calling and I cannot WAIT to get moving again.
Before we head across the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas, we need to get further south on the Florida coast before we point east.
Tomorrow we are aiming to go offshore to Lake Worth, about 110 nautical miles away, roughly a 22 hour passage. But we'll see how everyone copes with the wind and sea state.
Possible bailout: Fort Pierce.
We don't know where we'll be on Christmas day, but that's kind of part of the fun, isn't it?
