The Big Apple

A crazy awesome whirlwind trip to the Big Apple!

What a sensory overload!

From Port Washington, we took the train and subway into Manhattan.

We met up with Matt's friend, Kia Cheleen for breakfast at a local diner. The pancakes were bigger than the kids' heads!

We visited the American Museum of Natural History and saw the largest dinosaur ever discovered.

We wandered through Central Park, kids chasing pigeons and climbing hills.

We visited the National Museum of Mathematics on Manhattan. SO COOL! At first the kids were not so keen to visit this place because they thought they'd be forced to do tons of sit-down math. In the end, they didn't even want to go when it was closing time!

Thanks Simon Thornimoto and Caroline Ch for letting us crash at your place for a few nights and taking us out for authentic New York pizza. It was wonderful to see you all!!

We came back to our boat last evening, buzzing from our metropolitan experience.

Quick turnaround as we are now currently on our way down to Annapolis in a rental car (got upgraded to a hybrid too!)

We've got a packed schedule of meeting friends (old and new) and visiting the boat show. Can't wait!

On the train into Manhattan.

Holding hands so they don't get separated. Can you guess
what's in their back packs? Dirty Laundry!

Pancake breakfast with Kia.

Rare family photo in diner.

Friends reunited!

Simon making bread.

Iconic Brooklyn homes.

Brilliant piano player on the subway platform.

The dinosaur was so big, its head stuck out the door!

Strolling through Central Park.

Lunch in Central Park with our buddy boat friends.

Math Museum! Have you ever tried riding a square wheeled bike?

So much hands on stuff at the National Museum of Mathematics.
And not a single math question in sight!

Being human trees at the National Museum of Mathematics.

We all learned how to navigate the transit system.

On our way back to the boat, we took the subway that crossed Manhattan bridge.
We'll be sailing under it in a week or so!

Aila in front of the Empire State building. She was so excited to see
it in person after reading a book about it a few days earlier.

Cousins Matt and Simon. And random children trying to get out of the photo.

Driving over the Varrazano.... Last bridge we'll be going under
next week on our boat before heading down the New Jersey coast.
