Front Row Seats Canada Day

Happy Canada Day!

We had a late night with our new friends so this morning was off to a slow and groggy start.

We powered through school work as fast as we could and then invited the boys from the next boat over.

Tai and Aila introduced King Dominoes to them. I could hear their chatter and laughter as I worked.

It was incredibly heart-warming to see a 16, 11, 9 and 7 year old happily playing a board game together and enjoying themselves so much.

The day itself was cold, wet and dreary. We all took a nap this afternoon to catch up on all the lost sleep we've had over the last few weeks.

This evening we went to Chester to see the Parade of Lights (lit up boats parading around the harbour) and the fireworks.

The family next door invited us onto their boat which they had sailed over today so we could watch it together.

We could not have asked for better front-row seats. I swear the fireworks were going to fall on top of us! Incredible!

Happy Canada Day to you all!

See that platform? That's where the fireworks were set off from. We were sooo close!

Front row seats for the fireworks show. Incredible!

After the show, here's the fire brigade putting out the platform.

Aila's journal entry. Should be dated July 1st.
Ben is the older boy on the next boat. It was his birthday
on Canada Day! And so there was more cake :)
