Getting Organized

We got our stove back! We now have a functioning oven and two burners. John is a miracle worker.

This morning Aila and I went with Darlene into Lunenburg to do some laundry and get some supplies at the Boat Locker chandlery and the grocery store.

After a pizza lunch, Matt and I got busy organizing, sorting, and storing everything. We took everything out and made piles and piles.

We also found some spare parts the previous owner left.
We began to inventorize everything. What good is sorting and organizing when you can't find the item again later?

Man, does it ever feel good to get organized.

In the evening after the kids were down, we worked on the mast lights. First on making the electrical connection at the base of the mast, then testing them out at the control panel by the navigation station.

You know the game 'Everyone Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes'? It's a cooperative game where you have to work with a partner to try and solve multiple puzzles to defuse a bomb.

Well, checking the mast lights was a bit like playing that game.

I would stand outside on deck checking to see what light came on, if any. Matt would try various combinations from inside.

Eventually we got through them all. Happy to report that all the mast connections for the lights work. After all the hard work Matt put in over the past few weeks, it was a relief to know they all function as they should.

The only thing that was not working was the wind instrument, the anemometer. Strange. We'll have to investigate further.

Another weird thing was that there was a pretty big cable just by the foot of the mast that didn't connect to anything. We'll need to ask a qualified electrician.

Slowly but surely we are getting used to the nuances of our boat. Every square inch will be in our minds, inside and out, topside and down below.

Beautiful sea glass art in Mahone Bay.

Wires wires wires... and that's just a bit of them! Where do they go? What do they do?

She was shocked at how many machines there were in one place!

'OWNER' is Aila. They play this weird pretend game of dog and owner.
Don't ask. On another note, apparently I'm pretty cool because
I said they could have pizza AND Coke. I'm so weak.
